From the Hands of Masters, to the Place It Belongs
1976

Our journey began in 1976, when Reza Ghandi opened Ghandi Carpets “فرش قندی” in the heart of Tehran’s Ferdowsi Square, within the renowned Shah Abbasi Carpet Bazaar—a central hub for Persian rug merchants and collectors.
Inspired by the Safavid era design, the architecture of the Shah Abbasi Bazaar (بازار شاه عباسی) reflects the timeless elegance of Persian artistic heritage.
This iconic venue is not only a destination for collectors and traders of Persian carpets, but also a place where visitors come to admire both the artistry of the carpets and the beauty of the architecture.
Within this vibrant setting, Ghandi Carpets “فرش قندی” quickly established a reputation for offering some of the finest hand-knotted Persian rugs—pieces selected for their master-level weaving, flawless quality, and timeless value.
Upon opening his gallery, Reza Ghandi became a proud member of the Tehran Union of Handmade Carpet Producers and Sellers (اتحادیه تولیدکنندگان و فروشندگان فرش دستباف تهران), aligning himself with the foremost figures dedicated to preserving the integrity of Persian carpet craftsmanship.

1988
With a deep understanding of both Persian weaving artistry and global aesthetics, Reza Ghandi successfully expanded his reach across continents. His extensive travels during his media career to study and write about global cultures, enabled him to curate Persian masterpieces that appealed to sophisticated tastes around the world.
He was among the first Iranian merchants to introduce Persian carpets to Japan, working with COWA Co. Tokyo, and later established a strong distribution network across Europe—from Hamburg’s free trade zone to Zurich, Vienna, and Athens. In the United States, Ghandi Carpets became a longtime supplier to Green Front Furniture, one of the largest home furnishing retailers on the East Coast, serving elite clientele in Washington D.C., Virginia, Maryland, and beyond.

2006

Through consistent growth, expansion to new markets, and a commitment to quality, Reza Ghandi was elected in 2006 as the Exemplary Exporter of Persian Carpets—a prestigious national award personally handed to him by President Mohammad Khatami.
This award recognized three consecutive years of exceptional export volume, marking a significant contribution to Iran’s handmade carpet sector and the national economy.
Each rug that passed through Ghandi Carpets was more than a product—it was a carefully sourced, artistically finished work of art, selected to meet the tastes of the most discerning clients around the world.
