Preserved through generations, Echoes of Empire is an extraordinary antique carpet, hand-knotted in Meshkabad, Iran, over 120 years ago. Measuring an impressive 4.03 × 3.20 meters (approx. 13 sqm), this rare treasure embodies the grandeur and finesse of early 19th-century Persian weaving.
Once a flourishing weaving village near Arak, Meshkabad is no longer active in carpet production today. This historical reality makes surviving pieces from Meshkabad exceptionally rare and valuable—true relics of a lost chapter in Persian craftsmanship.
Crafted on a cotton foundation with a wool pile, the piece remains in remarkably well-preserved condition with a gracefully worn pile that reflects its century-old journey.
Woven in an all-over floral design, it showcases a rhythmic garden of stylized motifs, framed by regal borders that elevate its artistic and historical value.
As with many century-old pieces, it has undergone expert restoration in select area in its frame part, preserving its integrity while honoring its original craftsmanship.
